Tilde — Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Tilde (the “App”), operated by Yescomet, shows the terminal of your own computer on your phone. It collects nothing about you: there are no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. What happens in your terminal stays between your phone and your Mac.
What travels, and who can read it
Your phone and your Mac agree on keys when you pair them, by scanning a code shown on the Mac. Everything after that — keystrokes, output, the name of a window — is encrypted with those keys before it leaves either device.
When both are on the same network they talk directly, and nothing of ours is involved. When they are not, the connection is carried over the internet by a relay at tilde.yescomet.com, which passes encrypted bytes between the two ends without holding the keys to read them. It sees an opaque room identifier, how much data passed through and the network addresses of the two connections — the same thing any server sees of anyone who connects to it. It does not see terminal contents, commands, output, file names, the name of your Mac, or which device is on the other end. None of this is logged or kept beyond what a connection needs while it is open.
Notifications
If you ask to be told when a terminal needs you, the message is sealed on your Mac with the same keys before it is handed to Apple’s push service for delivery. Your phone opens it there. Neither Apple nor our relay can read what it says.
What stays on your phone
- A key identifying this device, kept in the iOS keychain and never sent anywhere except as part of pairing.
- The list of computers you have paired with: their name, their public key, and where to reach them.
Deleting the App removes both.
Permissions
- Local network. Used to find your Mac on the same Wi-Fi so you do not have to type an address. Nothing is sent to any other device found on the network.
- Camera. Used only to scan the pairing code shown on your Mac. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
- Notifications. Used only to deliver the alerts your own machine sends you.
On your Mac
The agent stores its own key and the list of devices you approved, in a file readable only by your user account. It checks once a day whether a newer version has been published, which tells the download server the same thing any download does: that someone asked for a file.
Children
Tilde is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what leaves your devices, the change will be described here with a new date, and in the release notes of the version that introduces it.
